Sign-in session

Only for people we have given client portal access. Google Identity Platform stores a session in your browser so you stay signed in between visits. Strictly necessary — without it you could not use the portal.

None of these is used to track you, build a profile, or share anything with third parties for advertising.

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people read and which ones they leave. It helps us decide what to write next. It is not used for advertising, and we do not combine it with anything else we hold about you.

Nothing loads until you agree. Until then the Google script is not requested at all, so your browser makes no connection to Google and no cookie is set. This is stricter than the usual arrangement, where the script loads immediately and merely holds back what it sends.

_ga, _ga_*

Set by Google Analytics once you allow it. They hold a randomly generated id that distinguishes one browser from another across visits, so a returning reader is not counted twice. They expire after two years, or immediately if you withdraw consent.

What we can see, if you agree:

• Which pages you opened and in what order, with the page title
• How far down a page you scrolled, and clicks on links leading off this site
• Roughly where in the world the visit came from — country and region, not an address
• Device type, screen size, operating system, browser and language
• Which site or search brought you here
• Downloads of files we publish, and searches you run on this site

What we do not get: your name, your email address, your IP address — Google Analytics 4 does not log or store it — or anything you type into a form. We send the tag with advertising storage denied, ad personalisation off, and ad identifiers stripped, so no request is made to Google's advertising domains and nothing here feeds advertising anywhere.

Google Ireland Limited acts as our processor for this, and processing may involve transfers outside the EEA under the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. This is the reason the choice is yours rather than ours.

The typefaces on this site are served from our own servers. Loading them from a third-party font service would send your IP address to that provider on every page view, so we host them ourselves instead. If you decline analytics, viewing this site causes your browser to contact no third party at all.

Clearing site data for warqline.com in your browser settings removes the theme preference, forgets your analytics answer, and signs you out of the portal. Browsers can also block cookies for this site entirely; the site still works, and you will be asked the analytics question again on your next visit.
